Artem Vovchenko escaped Putin’s dictatorship for the second time.

Artem is a former Russian serviceman who refused to fight in Ukraine. He paid a very high price for that decision.

He sought asylum in the United States and spent many months in immigration detention, only to be deported back to Russia after an immigration judge ruled that he was not in danger there. Russian authorities disagreed - Artem was arrested at the Moscow airport immediately after landing.

It seemed like there was no way out. But something incredible happened: Artem managed to escape Russia for a second time and reclaim his chance at freedom.

He is now safe. But he had to flee without belongings, without money, and without any support. Artem also suffers from serious back problems, and the trauma he endured has made his condition even worse. He urgently needs medical treatment, recovery, and support to rebuild his life.

We are launching a $12,000 fundraiser to help Artem get back on his feet:

  • medical care and back treatment - $5,000

  • legal assistance to settle in a safe country - $7,000

Artem is a true fighter. He refused to surrender or accept oppression, even after deportation, arrest, and a second escape from Russia.

We believe anti-war and opposition-minded Russians should stand with people like Artem and help them survive.

This is not only a chance to support someone in desperate need — it is a chance to help a person who continues fighting for freedom against all odds.
